Acne - what the hell is it?

Acne, also called Acne vulgaris is a skin condition caused by excessive oil secretion by the oil glands of the skin. Sometimes Acne can be hereditary and build up of dirt can also be a reason for them. Teenagers are most susceptible to acne. Acne can cause inflammation which can really hurt the skin. Acne can effect anywhere from face, neck to chest and back.

The oil secretion by the oil glands is regulated by the sex hormones and it is released mainly during the teenage during the development of secondary sexual characters in an individual. During Acne the excess oil secretion of the oil glands combines with dead skin cells and forms a kind of substance that blocks the skin pores. If this substance get blocked under the skin then it bulges and appears as a white bump a form of acne called white head. On the other hand if it is released then it leaves a darkening effect forming acne that is called as black head.

Acne can cause temporary or permanent skin damage not to mention about the psychological effect it has on the teenagers who are especially very concerned about their looks. This Acne usually appears during adolescence when people tend to be most socially insecure and they can only worsen the psychological state of the individual. Acne commonly leaves the skin rough and damaged with uneven surface. The scars left by acne can be very damaging to the looks of a face. So you should not neglect the acne and take immediate and aggressive action to control them and protect your skin. Reading a lot about acne helps.
